ViM Project
The #vitamins+minerals project addresses maternal and infant nutrient deficiencies, and ensures access to and availability of all 6 important child vitamins and minerals at health facilities and district hospitals in Eastern Uganda. CenRID serves as an agent in the campaign against Vitamin A deficiency among children under 5 years old.
LEARN MOREAntenatal & Neonatal Care Services
CenRID supports expectant mothers in accessing antenatal services, including the prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV and mobilizes households and communities to immunize their children against preventable diseases.
Malaria & Other Tropical Diseases
Malaria remains a major global health catastrophe, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. The region accounts for over 90 percent of both malaria cases and fatalities. CenRID's malaria eradication approach is focused on effective use and management of mosquito nets by increasing their availability and access. Traditional methods, including the African wormwood and lemon grass will also be promoted where applicable.
Breastfeeding
Breasfeeding is the best source of nutrients for infants during the first 6 months after birth. CenRID will conduct high-quality mass media campaigns to promote exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding to reduce the risk of respiratory illness, stunting, diarrhea, and malnutrition among children.
HBC and CBR Services
CenRID utilizes the Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) and the Home Based Care (HBC) approach to empower disabled children and their families to overcome and mitigate the impacts of the pervasive stigmatization and discrimination of physical and mental disabilities. HBC activities will also provide psychological, physical, and social care to orphaned children infected with HIV and AIDS.
